So much fun! Loving them, they are the best exercise I've found. Also, much more tiring than I expected, and it certainly gets my heart rate up and gets my whole body warmed up. I've been following the introductory videos from here and it's not quite what I expected - the momentum pulls your arms away from your body and there is quite a strong pull, even at the slow speeds I'm using, so must be more when you get up to the speeds that guy can do.
So far I haven't hit my head, which I expected to happen. In fact, I can't even see how you could hit your head now, as the clubs are kept quite far from it. I have clocked myself on the knees, and on the shoulder blade, however.
I can feel a change in my back and shoulders already, with some muscle pain, and stretching, and LOTS of joint clicking at first, until the joints warm up and get into the swing of it. After a few short sessions, there is quite a lot of muscle pain in my left shoulder and left upper back, but it also feels less stiff and locked.
The pain I had last week around my upper left arm is now down towards my elbow, it feels like the base of the bicep and tricep are bruised and strained. I wonder where it will go next? Back up the arm, or down below the elbow into my forearm? Or maybe the muscles have all had their initial strain from growing and stretching with all the upper body work I've been doing, and it's now all over and will continue to improve.
Went for a run today, as my cold seems to be getting much better, and I slept over 9 hours last night, so felt refreshed and ready to run. My lungs misbehaved a little, presumably from the cold and sinus issues for the last few days, so they fought me a bit for the first 10 minutes, but after that were fine.
Ran into this cranky swan - they look remarkably ungainly out of the water. Only did 4.5 kms today, and didn't break any personal bests, but it felt good to be out there and moving.
Tomorrow is my last physio appointment til next year, after the Christmas break, and my last day with access to the gym for upper body weights, until Jan 4th. I will be doing Pilates and Yoga while on holiday, with bands for resistance, as well as swimming, and running when I can, so hopefully I won't go backwards in terms of ROM and fitness.
