Now with added yoga. I had my usual Sunday morning run yesterday, and my knee is doing better, but still has some very odd sensations. The only way to describe it is feeling like a bug under my kneecap, kind of crawling around, sometimes in one spot, sometimes in another. And then it just goes away. So very strange.
I then did Pilates Rapid again, and was able to get my legs back behind my head in rollover, although with some rocking to get momentum, as my shoulders and arms aren't quite strong or stable enough to help my abs get my legs moving. But one there I could control it, and roll down slowly. I then followed it with an attempt at Vinyasa Yoga, which served to show exactly how stiff and locked up I am!
Today I was back at the physio, for a relaxing day of laying on the table while he massaged and manipulated my back, neck and shoulder, and then on my back while he manipulated my shoulder and my arm. He also tried a few assisted stretches and was very pleased with my external rotation movement. I have another exercise to do now - arm raised to the side at shoulder height, with forearm bent at 90 degrees and resting against a door frame, then push through the door frame. I went straight to grab under my arm where the pain/pull was felt, and apparently that's a good thing to do to help it release. Adding that to the increasingly long list.....
Hopped on the airbike after that, for 20 minutes of sweating. I'm not sure my fitbit is correct in calorie calculations though - 20 minutes on the airbike I'm sweating and puffing, and it gives me 140 calories burned. 25 minutes of walking, no sweat, no panting, and it gives 190. That does not seem remotely correct.
I did the ring stretches, and something gave in my shoulder. When I then did some stretches with the swiss ball, I felt my back was able to dip down below my arms, and my shoulder blade moved back along my ribs.
When I got home I also did some more yoga, an evening relaxation practice (Ekhart Evening Practice). Love her voice, find it very soothing. The next video played automatically, so I did that one too - a meditation (Ekhart Meditation). I could actually feel my upper back and shoulders relaxing down, and my left arm stretching down into the floor. I couldn't actually hold it that long, as my left arm and shoulder really started complaining (ironically while she was saying "Listen to your body" - yep, it's yelling at me pretty loud). I only had to sit up for the last few moments though, and at least I was able to sit up, I didn't get stuck on the floor for a while like last time.
I'll keep doing that one, as I've never been able to meditate, and something I was reading the other day was talking about people with stiff muscles said meditation could help. Certainly can't hurt. Although my left shoulder is very sore tonight, and a bit crampy.
